We ask you to:

  • Not attend if you are feeling unwell or experiencing Covid-19 symptoms.

  • Come purposefully to 'shop & go' and not socialise in groups at the market.

  • Socially distance 2m apart wherever possible whilst queuing and moving around the open air environment.

  • Should there be busy areas where this is not possible please wear a mask or face covering.

  • Bring your own shopping bag to limit cross handling by trader and you.

  • Buy delicious street food but take it away to eat rather than eating together in the market.

  • Clean your hands frequently using our 70 % alcohol hand sanitiser dispensers (on lampposts).

  • Refrain from handling goods and always use hand sanitiser before and after should you do so.

  • Refrain from gathering in groups.

  • Dispose of masks, gloves and general rubbish in the bins provided.

  • Please consult the current rules on lock downs and Tiers and ensure that your visit is allowed within the current rules.

  • Respect each other at the market. Everyone feels differently about Covid risk so please be kind to each other.

Covid -19

Changes we have made

Treacle Market  closed in March 21 and  waited until August 30th to reopen, modestly initially, with a  reduced number of stalls. We went on to deliver Lock Down Larders and Tiny Treacles reflecting the need to trade safely and responsibly.

Going forward we are determined to discourage gathering together and have taken the following steps to help us all stay safe and well. We ask ask for your good humoured cooperation and patience when visiting us and your understanding of the modified version of Treacle.

We have taken advice from national advisory and professional bodies, CEC and we are committed to delivering a market that minimises the risk of infection from Covid, taking all sensible precautions that provide real benefit within the open air environment.

We thank you for your patience and  being respectful of traders and each other as we learn a new way of coming to market.

  • There will be no music at Treacle to discourage social gathering & dancing.

  • Extensive signage on stalls and throughout the market reminding about 2m social distancing.

  • A smaller number of stalls to allow for a more spacious layout.

  • Hand sanitiser for you to use throughout the market. Please look out for the HANDS on lamp posts.

  • There will be no tables and benches for communal eating.

  • There will be no children's 'hands on' activities.

  • Treacle stewards will be present to remind people to socially distance and to assist sensible queuing.

  • Street food will be available in covered containers and some available to pre order so you can take it away with ease.

  • We will close the market prematurely if it becomes too busy and congested. Stall holders will cover their stalls and not trade.
