We ask you to:

  • Not attend if you are feeling unwell or experiencing Covid-19 symptoms.

  • Be mindful of gathering in groups, particularly in busy areas of the market

  • Please respect the wishes of others, and maintain social distancing where possible

  • Please feel free to wear a mask should the market become busy, if you are more comfortable doing so – as organisers we will continue to wear masks

  • Bring your own shopping bag to limit cross handling by trader and you

  • Clean your hands frequently using our 70 % alcohol hand sanitiser dispensers (on lampposts)

  • Dispose of masks, gloves and general rubbish in the bins provided.

  • Respect each other at the market. Everyone feels differently about Covid risk so please be kind to each other.

Covid -19

Treacle Market  closed in March 21 and  waited until August 30th to reopen, modestly initially, with a  reduced number of stalls. We went on to deliver Lock Down Larders and Tiny Treacles reflecting the need to trade safely and responsibly.

Whilst restrictions have officially now lifted, Treacle Market is proceeding with caution, and we respectfully ask that you do so too.  So far your good humoured patience has enabled us to run the market in as safe a way as possible, and we hope that you continue to be so cooperative as we cautiously move forwards

We have taken advice from national advisory and professional bodies, CEC and we are committed to delivering a market that minimises the risk of infection from Covid, taking all sensible precautions that provide real benefit within the open air environment.

Changes we have made

  • Music will return to the town square, however there will be no communal seating and tables just yet, and we ask that you are mindful of others when enjoying the performances

  • Hand sanitiser for you to use throughout the market. Please look out for the HANDS on lamp posts.

  • Treacle stewards will be present to remind people to socially distance and to assist sensible queuing.

  • Stall holders are encouraged to wear face masks at their discretion

  • We will close the market prematurely if it becomes too busy and congested. Stall holders will cover their stalls and not trade.

Stall holders will

  • Not attend Treacle if feeling unwell or have been in contact with someone with Covid-19.

  • Have prepared a Covid Risk Asessment for trading at Treacle.

  • Wear masks or visors on their stalls unless unable to for medical reasons.

  • Have 70% alcohol hand sanitiser  available for you and them to use throughout the day.

  • Offer contactless payment means when possible and clean card readers between customers.

  • Some will offer 'clean money' alternatives.

  • Cover or screen their unwrapped food items (a few exceptions).

  • Avoid touching the handles of your shopping bags should you bring them.

  • Display signs reminding you to socially distance, use contactless payments & clean your hands.

  • Remind you to queue sensibly.

We thank you for your patience and  being respectful of traders and each other as we learn a new way of coming to market.
